Introduction

A Vacant Pharmacist Assistant position exists at Life Rosepark Hospital, Hospital Pharmacy, reporting to the Senior Pharmacist, Karin HugoCritical Outputs

• Perform duties as per scope of practice as prescribed by the South African Pharmacy Council
• Processing prescriptions
• Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units
• Performing cycle counts and stock takes as well as capturing stock takes and investigating variances
• Ordering of ethical stock/surgical stock
• Receiving and unpacking stock from suppliers
• Processing of credits, stock transfers and invoices from supplier
• Participate in facility’s quality programs and initiatives
• Liaise with nursing staff and doctors re: formulary and medical queries

Requirements

• A Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
• Excellent interpersonal skills are very important and good relationships with doctors, staff and suppliers is essential
• Computer literacy is an essential requirement
• A professional person with strong mathematical skills and who pays attention to detail and strong performance orientation completes the profile of the ideal candidate
• The candidate will be required to (on a rotational basis) be available to work shifts; be available for after hours as well as weekend duties.

Introduction

An exciting vacancy exists for a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant at Life Flora Hospital. The position will report to Lorna Barros, Senior Pharmacist.Critical Outputs

• Receiving, checking and unpacking stock together with checking orders against invoices
• Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units
• Controlling of surgical and pharmaceutical stock in pharmacy
• Processing of credits and stock transfers.
• Performing cycle counts and stock takes as well as capturing stock takes and investigating variances.
• Liaise with nursing staff and doctors on formulary, stock and medical queries.
• Participate in facility’s quality programs and initiatives
• Liaise with Pharmacy and Quality Manager as Health and Safety Representative

Requirements

• Grade 12 / NSC
• Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant’s qualification with post basic experience and approximately 2-3 years’ experience within the healthcare industry
• Relevant experience in pharmacy to meet the critical outputs
• Current registration and in good standing with South African Pharmacy Council
• Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and change management principles
• Understanding of the private / public healthcare industry, it’s challenges and role players would be an advantage
• Computer proficiency (MS Office)
• Understanding of Good Pharmacy Practice
